New guidelines for January 2024:
The new year has a little while to go. A large number of frauds, spam, fraud, and internet fraud instances were reported in 2023. In order to handle all of these, the government has fully prepared as of the new year. Strict regulations have been imposed on the buying and selling of SIM cards in a new telecom bill that the government has introduced. Starting on January 1, 2024, the new guidelines for purchasing SIM cards will be in place. Buying a SIM will not be as simple as it used to be.

Online frauds and scams have become more common in India as a result of the country's growing smartphone population. The government will now take harsh measures against it.

With the ever-increasing number of smartphone users in India, cases of online frauds and scams have also increased rapidly. Now the government is going to crack down on it. The new rules for buying SIMs will come into effect from the new year. The new bill from the government has made it clear that if anyone buys a fake SIM, he can be sentenced to 3 years in jail and a fine of up to 50 lakh.

In the new telecommunication bill, strict instructions have been given to the telecom companies that the data of every customer buying a SIM must be collected in a biometric manner. If someone buys a SIM card in a fake way, strict action can be taken against him.

SIMs will be available only through digital KYC in the country from January 1, 2024. Not only this, a major change has also been made in the verification system. The verification of SIM vendors has also been made mandatory. Since the new year, no one has been given a SIM in bulk. However, this rule will not be applicable for commercial purposes.

Under the new rules for buying and selling SIMs, registration of telecom franchisees, SIM distributors and point-of-sale agents will now be mandatory. If a dealer ignores the new telecom rules, he can be fined up to Rs 10 lakh.
